The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation is encouraging young people to attend two science and technology fairs this month and use their scientific knowledge and competencies outside classrooms.

Speaking at the opening of the National Science and Technology Fair 2022 yesterday, Minister Anek Laothamatas said the ministry is organising two science and technology fairs for young people to learn about the use of scientific knowledge in their lives.

The first one he was referring to, the National Science and Technology Fair 2022, is being held at the IMPACT Arena, Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi until Sunday.

He said the second fair, the NST Fair Science Carnival Bangkok, will be held from Wednesday to Sunday at Samyan Mitrtown.

Mr Anek said the National Science and Technology Fair 2022 covers sciences related to livelihoods and national development.

It showcases several scientific projects from the government, the private sector, the education sector and abroad, he said.

Seminars will also be held for academics to exchange knowledge on particular topics, he said.

He said the Prime Minister Scientific Award ceremony will be held for students and teachers who initiate outstanding innovative scientific projects at the event.

This award is to help encourage the younger generation to use interdisciplinary approaches to solve problems in their communities, develop a positive mindset toward sciences and encourage them to do good work, he said.

"Our ministry's mission is to develop Thailand [to meet] global standards by emphasising human capital, infrastructure development and technological knowledge and creating sustainable innovation," Mr Anek said.
