BANGKOK, July 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — On June 30, during a China–Thailand government reception, Mr. Piyapak Sricharoen, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, and Ms. Chang Yumeng, Minister Counselor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand, jointly presented POP MART’s popular character, DIMOO, with the honorary title of “Special Friend of Thailand-China Golden Jubilee”.
DIMOO was also featured at the unveiling ceremony for a limited-edition figure in Bangkok, where the exclusive character design and an animation short were officially revealed.
As 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, a series of creative cultural exchange events have been launched, highlighting how art toy IPs are becoming vital bridges between the two cultures.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Mr. Piyapak Sricharoen, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, Ms. Chang Yumeng, Minister Counselor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand, and Ms. Chen Xiaoyun, Vice President of POP MART International Group.
Created by Chinese artist Ayan Deng, DIMOO WORLD tells a healing story of a shy little boy who enters the Kingdom of Clouds through his dreams, where he finds friendship and growth. This dreamy world of comfort and companionship has quietly resonated with young people across China and Thailand, transcending language and borders.
For this special occasion, POP MART and Ayan designed a culturally blended DIMOO figure. Drawing inspired from the national symbol of Thailand, elephant, the cloud atop DIMOO’s head takes the form of an auspicious baby elephant. DIMOO wears traditional Thai attire and leans against a fiery lotus—a symbol that represents both Chinese wisdom and brightness as well as the passionate friendship between the two nations.
At the ceremony, DIMOO, dressed in Thai costume, performed a dance featuring both Chinese and Thai cultural elements. Artist Ayan also made a surprise appearance at the signing session, where many enthusiastic fans brought collected DIMOO figurines to be autographed. DIMOO is increasingly becoming a unique cultural symbol that connects the youth of both countries.
Notably, POP MART also collaborated with China Eastern Airlines to launch a special edition aircraft painted with DIMOO’s China–Thailand 50th anniversary design. The plane made its maiden flight on July 4, connecting multiple cities in China with Bangkok.
