Air Arabia has introduced a new daily direct service between Sharjah and Krabi, strengthening aviation links between the United Arab Emirates and one of Thailand’s most popular coastal destinations.

The airline said the route reflects growing demand for travel between the two countries and supports wider efforts to expand connectivity across Southeast Asia.

The inaugural flight departed Sharjah International Airport on 28 November 2025 and was welcomed on arrival by Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Phipat Ratchakitprakarn, together with senior representatives from Air Arabia and Krabi Airport.

The reception underscored the strategic importance both sides attach to the new link, which is expected to drive visitor numbers and support Thailand’s tourism-led economic recovery.

Adel Al Ali, Group CEO of Air Arabia, said the launch marks a significant milestone in the carrier’s expansion plans in the region. “The daily service will offer travellers greater convenience while supporting the growing flow of tourism and trade between the two countries,” he said.

With Krabi now added to the network, Air Arabia passengers can choose from three destinations in Thailand, joining Bangkok and Phuket on the Sharjah schedule.

The airline’s growing presence in Southeast Asia reflects a steady rise in outbound leisure travel from the UAE and strong inbound demand from Thai travellers.

Industry analysts have noted that Thailand remains one of the most sought-after long-haul holiday destinations for UAE residents, with beach resorts and wellness-focused retreats ranking among the top draws. Krabi, known for its white-sand beaches, coral reefs, limestone cliffs, sea caves and natural hot springs, is widely regarded as one of the country’s most scenic regions.

Air Arabia said the daily frequency will provide added flexibility for both tourists and business travellers, while improving cargo capacity on a route with growing trade flows. The airline expects demand to remain strong throughout the winter season, supported by favourable visa regulations, competitive fares and Thailand’s wide appeal among families, solo travellers and adventure tourists.

The launch also aligns with broader tourism and aviation strategies in both the UAE and Thailand. Sharjah has continued to expand its role as a regional hub, with a focus on low-cost connectivity and expanding airport infrastructure.

Thailand, meanwhile, has been working to diversify tourist arrivals and deepen links with Gulf markets, supported by increased air capacity and promotional campaigns.
