RATCHABURI, Thailand – Thai authorities fined a vendor at the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi after a video by Korean YouTubers Jung and Cullen (Cullen HateBerry) showed high clothing prices, triggering online backlash from viewers.
Following the controversy, officials inspected the market. The stall owner admitted to the sales, which occurred in early October, but acknowledged failing to display price tags.
The stall in question was fined 2,000 baht for failing to display a price tag and ordered to refund the customer. The operator was also summoned to clarify the cost of goods for further review.
The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is a key international tourist destination.
Officials stressed that clearly displaying prices for goods and boat services is essential to maintaining the market’s image and tourist confidence and promoting the sustainable appeal of the market as a popular spot near Bangkok. -819 (TNA)
